Temperature

A setting that controls how random or predictable a language model's output is, from focused to creative.

Temperature is a dial that controls the randomness of a model's responses. A low temperature makes the model pick the most likely next words, giving consistent, predictable output. A higher temperature lets it choose less obvious words, producing more varied and creative results.

It matters because the right setting depends on the job. For tasks that demand accuracy and repeatability, such as extracting data or answering policy questions, a low temperature is safer. For brainstorming, drafting, or generating variety, a higher temperature helps. The wrong setting can make a model either too rigid or too prone to wandering.

At arosplatforms we tune temperature deliberately per use case rather than leaving it at a default. For most enterprise workflows we keep it low to maximize reliability and reduce the chance of made-up answers, raising it only where creative range is genuinely valuable.
